San Leandro, CA (Bay-O-Vista Neighborhood)
We attended this estate sale in July 2013.
The Bay-O-Vista neighborhood never disappoints! This neighborhood has so many amazing Mid Century homes, most of them incredibly intact. And this neighborhood has a great track record for killer estate sales! We can safely say this was a great day! This house was massive. It doesn't look like it from the street, but it sits on a hill and there is lots of room on this lot. There was a bar downstairs with original streaky tan asphalt tile (Yummy), an indoor swimming pool, upstairs there was a family room with gorgeous Mid Century fireplace with BBQ... there is just too much to list, go check out the rest of the photos and see for yourself!
This blog was created to document those homes where the decor has stood still for at least 50 years or more! We search our local newspaper for estate sales to get a peek inside some of these unusual, wacky and beautiful vintage houses to document their inability to keep up with current design trends.

1946 Modern Sophisticate House
We attended this estate sale in June 2014.
So, our landlady called me this past Saturday asking if I could swing by this estate sale and help her load up a set of vintage rattan furniture that she scored a great deal on. I was just excited to see the furniture she bought, I didnt know my heart was going to be stolen by this house! Both Jake and I really want this house! But, it was a little difficult getting to this house. Saturday, I came at the end of the day to load the furniture, took a super fast look around, not even seeing some of the greatest parts of the house. Sunday was Fathers day and my parents were in town and I had to go to work. By Monday, I figured it was over, but I said to myself, what the heck, I will check craigslist, and sure enough the sale was still going on Monday! So I finally got to tour this fabulous house and buy a little something too!

Cute Cottage Built in 1945
Attended this estate sale in January 2014.
This adorable little 1945 cottage has so many original features, we were quite blown away by it! There was original linoleum, kitchen cabinets, appliances, including an ultra rare Hotpoint dish washer, original 2 inch metal venetian blinds in every room and knotty pine basement with built in bar! There was lots of great finds here, we managed to get a pair of 1940s modern table lamps, vintage pillowcase that matched some sheets we already had and a few small bakelite and lucite items. The house is for sale at the time of this post, hope someone gets it who appreciates it! The houses address is: 2575 Kelly St Hayward, CA 94541 Just in case anyone is interested!

1929 Home With Late 60s Interior
Alameda, CA
Attended this sale in November 2011.
Wow! Knowing that this house was located in Alameda, we knew it was going to be great! The house on the outside looks like a typical cute 1920s house, but once you get inside it is an explosion of crazy over the top late 60s goodness! Wall to wall shag carpet, fuzzy flocked wallpaper and lots of avocado green everywhere made my heart thump! I wish I got a photo of the living and dining room, they has shag and more wacky wallpaper but some of the original 1929 elements were still there like the fireplace, built-ins and beautiful wrought iron hand rails on the two steps between the living and dining room. Oh well, got the rest of the house! Oh and by the way, the kitchen was really disappointing, so no photos of that either. Anyways, like always the stuff for sale was to die for and we came home with a truck load!
